BIO! – Conductive Bio-Material Exploration
Boxiaoxiao Weng (Icey)
Adhering to the interest and enthusiasm for new material research, I hope to break down the barriers between audiences and new biomaterials by integrating new “upcycle” conductive biomaterials into daily life design. I hope to evoke my audiences by presenting sustainability, new biodegradable materials, narrative, expressive and the sensory interaction in a playfulness format that can lead to new interpretations of non-stereotyped illumination forms and materials.
By inspiration from Ingo Maurer, my main focus would be to bring the charcoal left overs from the outdoors to light up people’s lives once again in indoors. Focusing on developing illumination forms that speaks the design intent and also demonstrates its material origin. I will be playing with the idea of “Light, not a sconce”, using my perspective of design and production to break the conventional look and production materials of sconce in people’s impression.
