Rachel Zeier (b.1992) is an emerging artist and BFA Visual Arts graduate of Emily Carr University of Art + Design, focusing on oil painting. She currently lives and works in Vancouver, BC on the unceded, ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Rachel finds inspiration in the weird, bizarre uncanny and inexplicable. Working with imagery of the body, her objective is to explore the absurdness of existence. For her dedicated studies in painting she was awarded the Jack and Doris Shadbolt Scholarship and the Norma Sorensen Artists’ Scholarship.
